Raas for a Cause!

Back in May, I attended a ShowIt workshop here in San Francisco.  That's where I first learned of Jasmine Star, and where I first met Nicole Chubb Ralston!  We volunteered together to help set up the workshop for the ShowIt crew.  Ever since then, Nicole and I've become friends!  Through Nicole, I've met some other fun and fabulous people.  Check out Nicole's website!  http://chubbphotos.showitsite.com

Last Thursday, Nicole and I went to 111 Minna Gallery to shoot the Raas for a Cause event for her friend Rakhi.  Rakhi put together the event for the second year in a row.  Check out the Raas for a Cause website:   http://www.raasforacause.com/.   The purpose of the event was to raise money to benefit charities dedicated to helping underprivileged children around the world.  Taken from the Raas for a Cause website, "Raas is a festive dance originating in Gujarat, India.  Raas is an energetic dance performed with sticks, called "dandiyas." Raas is not only easy to learn, it is intoxicating. And if you have been to a traditional Raas festival before, get ready for a creative twist on your favorite festival style dance."

Here are some photos from Thursday's event.  Everyone had a great time!  And I got to wear the Sari that my Indian Grandparents sent me via my Mom and step-dad Jim.  They had gone back to London to visit them in June.  Who would have thought that I'd ever have an event to wear my beautiful sari???  I felt so beautiful in it and it was an adventure just getting wrapped up in it!

Visiting friends in Sonoma

Matt, Biskey and I went to visit our friends out in Sonoma this last Sunday.  It had been cold in the city and we decided we needed to experience some summer weather!  Little did we know that the next few days in the city would be the hottest San Francisco has experienced ALL SUMMER LONG!  My car read 95 degrees yesterday.  Boo hoo on me, but that's just a little too hot.  I have leather seats in my car and when the sun has been roasted all day long on my seats, my skin practically melts as soon as I sit down.  Anyways, we had gone out to Sonoma for some warmer weather and we had a lovely time playing fetch with Biskey and Flicker, dangling our toes in the pool, watching Cillian be a little fishy, having a nice lunch with Nancy and Niall and then going into town for some ice cream, although I opted for hawaiian shaved ice and pop rocks!

On our way home, we thought we'd stop off at Matt's parents and have dinner with them, but before we could do that, we got stuck in race weekend traffic.  Ahhhh!!!!  We went a whopping 2 miles in 40 minutes.  I guess that's not so bad considering folks in China were stuck in a 64 mile traffic jam!  After we made our way passed the race traffic, we made it to Matt's parents house and we had some yummy take out pizza for dinner.  I went with Matt's dad to pick up the pizza and I think that was the first time we had spent one on one time together.  Matt suggested I go so we could have some bonding time and we sure did.  :)  After dinner, we had some strawberries and ice cream for dessert and watched.... wait for it.... two episodes of Khloe and Kourtney Take on Miami!  I couldn't believe we were watching that as a family together!  (There's a story behind why Matt was intrigued to stop and watch it with his parents and sister, but that can wait for another time!).

Here are a few snapshots of Cillian, Biskey and Flicker from this last Sunday.  Fun memories!

Cillian wadding in the pool.
 Flicker going after his toy!
Biskey and Flicker playing fetch and seeing who gets the toy first.  I love their ears!

Sipping on his sippy cup after his nap.
Sitting in momma's lap.

Biskey is so cute!

Still waking up from his nap, but all cute and ready to go get ice cream!

Laline USA - First store opening in the United States!

I recently was invited to join in on an exciting new venture here in San Francisco and in the United States!  Laline USA opened up their first store in the United States and I got to be a part of the celebration!  The store is located on Pier 39 in San Francisco near Fisherman's Wharf.

Laline has over 60 stores throughout Israel and Europe.  They have a line of bath and body products made from salts from the Dead Sea.  The store is all white with splashes of color here and there.   The store is very clean, fresh and elegant.  I loved the products too!  The smells were clean and nice and not over powering like some other bath and body stores.  Check them out at:  www.lalineusa.com.

Here are some of the faces of Laline USA.

Here are some photos of their products.
